This quirky skull and bones buttonhole accessory adds a little gothic charm to your suit or evening jacket. Slot the top bone through your button hole and leave the second bone and skull gently swaying from your buttonhole.

Australian artist Julia deville is inspired by the Memento Mori jewellery of the 15th to 18th centuries and Victorian mourning jewellery, and is fascinated by their acceptance of death.

Julia works predominantly in silver and gold, and incorporates materials that were once living, such as jet, human hair and taxidermy to create her designer jewellery. She uses these materials and symbols of death in her work as a Memento Mori, a reminder of our mortality.

Julia considers her work to be a celebration of life, a preservation of something beautiful, and in accordance with her ethical beliefs only uses animals that have died of natural causes.
