• Last Saturday the historic Seven Dials shopping district was completely pedestrianised for the much anticipated, annual shopping event. The weather was glorious and people wandered in and out of shops, enjoyed food and drink from pop up bars and restaurants and basked in the centre of the dials where the cobbles had been transformed with grass and laid out with deck chairs. Over 130 shops were offering discounts, testers and treats with the highlight of the event being Coco de Mer’s head turning window dances.

We captured the event to share with you here:

Beau Rocks thrilled the crowd in her first performance as she slowly revealed Coco de Mer's not so virginal Hebe.In her second performance she wowed in a sumptuous, royal blue set by La Perla, which is exclusive in store. Both ensembles were styled with a cheeky wink and plenty of whipped cream. After the performance customers flooded the store for the full Coco de Mer experience and shopped, devoured kinky cakes bu Eat'n'Mess and entered our competition to win two salon tickets. Did you enter? The winner will be announced soon...

Last Saturday, our girls took to Monmouth Street offering customers cakes...with a twist! We were celebrating the Seven Dials shopping event, and as well as some very revealing window performances, passers by sampled the delights of our kinky cakes. Emblazoned with naughty words - 'DOM', 'SUB', 'Pussy', 'Fondle' - these cupcakes were topped with intricate Coco de Mer classics made with icing such as glittery nipple tassels and spanking paddles. Cake brand Eat 'n' Mess created these goodies for us and thanks to their cupcakes and some whipped cream, our burlesque dancer got a tad messy! The baker behind the brand is Danielle Rumbelow. We caught up with her to talk kinky cakes...

What made you want to make cakes?

I have always had a passion for baking since I was young. Who wouldn't want to bake cakes for a living?!

How long have you been baking for?

Since I was about eight years old. With no professional training, I have found the best way to learn is through experience and practice.

How do you make them so sinfully delicious?

I think the most essential tool you have to possess is a love of baking and put that passion and energy into the cakes. If I am having an off day it will show in my baking.

Your Coco de Mer kinky cakes are adorned with naughty icing. What advice can you give about creating delicate decorations?

Its important to be patient and take you time. Never rush. If you want to try something more complicated do some research before hand. Using books and videos online makes the process much clearer. Suddenly something that looks more difficult becomes easier to achieve.

    What are your addictions?

Mulberry handbags, pretty knickers & raspberries.

Chocolate, of course, is an aphrodisiac. How do you most like to use it?

Fresh fruit dipped in chocolate always feels naughty.

What sweet treat would you serve after dinner to spoil you lover?

My Raspberry Bakewell Loaf looks spectacular. It always gets a reaction and makes mouths water...

We like to clean in our delicates... what would be your dream Coco de Mer baking ensemble?.

Nothing but Beautiful Bottoms Summer Plumes Lace French Knickers

If you weren't a baker, what would you be doing?

Travelling the world sampling every delicious treat and delicacy I could get my hands on.

    Where can we find you?

Greenwich Market every Tuesday & Wednesday

Broadway Market in the Schoolyard every Saturday

Chislehurst Farmers Market every 3rd Sunday of the month

Impressing the art world with her highly intricate papercuts, Poppy Chancellor is our current cultural obsession at Coco de Mer. A dedicated Coco de Mer customer and fan, Chancellor’s first solo exhibition is approaching which focuses on erotic motifs and the idea of sexual greed. We sat down with the artist to delve into her vivid imagination and admire her work…

Poppy, tell us about your exhibition ‘Cut and Thrust’.

The show looks at the animalistic nature of desire through a cast of exotic characters. I love story telling, so these intricate illustrations really let the viewer delve into a world that's full of humour, celebration and sex.

It's your first solo show. How do you beat nerves?

It's important to relax and not to get too self-conscious. A long bath always helps.

What made you approach erotica as a theme?

I've been visually obsessed with sexual greed and seduction for a long time and I've always wanted to make work about it. I love combining a traditional craft with something more sensual.

How long will one piece take to cut out by hand?

It can vary depending on the intricacy, but most pieces take around 6 hours to cut out.

Where do you go for inspiration?

I'm always inspired by traditional Mexican and Chinese paper art. The Shunga exhibition of Japanese Erotica at The British Museum really inspired me to look at how thrilling erotic images could be.

How did you discover Coco de Mer? What is it that draws you to our brand?

My mum first introduced me to the store and I find it hard not to go in every time I walk past. I love spoiling myself and Coco de Mer always makes me feel like I deserve a little treat.

What is your most coveted piece?

I love this Paul Seville Gold Spiked Leather Choker. I think it would look great on a night out.

Do you see yourself as an Adventurer, a Lover or a Dreamer?

I'd like to think a mixture of all three, but If I had to choose one, it would be a Lover.

Tell us your passions outside the art world?

I love eating good food and I love to dance. A combination of the two would be ideal but might give me a stitch.

What fuels late nights at your studios?

Good music, delicious snacks and a sharp scalpel.

Poppy’s Cut and Thrust exhibition is showing at Celestine Eleven, 4 Holywell Lane, London EC2A 3ET. It commences on the 5th of June.

Saturday 17th May sees the historic Seven Dials in Covent Garden host its Summer shopping event. The highlight of the festivities will be Coco de Mer's notorious window dances staring Beau Rocks. We picked the brains of the pint sized bombshell to learn all about the art of the tease...

Describe Beau Rocks in three words.

    Playful - Enigmatic - Sensual

How long have you been performing and what first attracted you to burlesque?

I have been performing professionally since 2007. I never thought I would still be doing it 7 years on - never mind internationally with some of the biggest names in the industry! I was initially attracted to the freedom burlesque offers. For me, its a chance to express myself both creatively and sexually. Growing up I was always a tomboy and shied away from anything 'girly'. Initially I could hide behind burlesque as a way of being more feminine - with the silk stockings, lacy knickers and nipple tassels. Now of course, I embrace every angle of my womanhood and love playing dress up for a living.

Do you have any pre-performance rituals?

Its the small things that help get me into character and in the mood, like applying my red lipstick slowly and in plenty of time to make sure its just right.

You use some exciting props during your performances. Which ones get the best reactions?

Its more what you do with them that gets the reaction. I have a plethora of soft feather boas and fans that I use to hide my naked flesh. I use props in lots of different ways on stage, but usually the suggestion and anticipation of what I will do with the prop gets a bigger reaction than the final act - I guess that is the 'art' of the tease!

    What makes you feel sensual?

I think I'm a very sensory person. I love using bath oils and body lotions and creams. When my skin is soft and smelling delicious it makes me feel otherworldly. Slipping on silk stockings to freshly moisturised thighs is a delight no one should miss out on.

Which garments do you have most fun removing during your performance?

Definitely stockings! There are lots of different ways they can be removed. Slowly, quickly, lying down or standing up. Stockings can also be used as a prop afterwards. In one of my acts I use one as a blindfold and one as gag for a poor unsuspecting audience member.

What are your favourite lingerie brands?

I am completely in love with Bordelle at the moment. Their lingerie is both feminine and a little bit kinky with bondage undertones. They look incredible and can double up as shape wear. I have also been lusting after a sheer kimono for a while. My next investments will definitely be the purple Full Bloom Chiffon Kimono by Steph Aman or the Coco De Mer Aurora Kimono, I just love the lace paneling. I am a big fan of wearing underwear as outerwear like cuffs and harnesses which can be worn over simple vests or dresses, I adore harnesses by Fleet Ilya.

If you were locked in Coco de Mer for one night what would you do?

This is a dream scenario! I would take much pleasure in trying on every piece of lingerie I could get my hands on. There are lots of books in store too that I have often flicked through but never had the time to really look at so that would definitely be on the agenda. Perhaps it would be more fun to be locked in with someone else but given the incredible collection of luxury toys in store maybe that's not necessary!

What are your top tips for becoming the ultimate tease?

Anticipation and suggestion. Going slow and letting your audience know that you are the one calling the shots. Whether your audience is 500 people in a theater or just you and your other half. I also think its very important to let them know that you are having a good time, because after all, if you are enjoying yourself the chances are they will be too!

What do you think makes the ultimate outfit for seduction?

When it comes to clothes and lingerie I think its important to wear something that makes YOU feel damn good! Off stage I usually opt for a little black dress but underneath is my secret - stockings and suspenders and a half cup bra is a favourite of mine. No one else knows I am wearing it but that's not important - the way it makes me feel and carry myself is incredible.

What is your most treasured possession?

A few years ago my other half gave me a beautiful Shell Belle lingerie set from Coco de Mer for our anniversary. It fitted perfectly and he even got me stockings to match. He is not the most confident man when it comes to shopping for things for me to wear so I was really impressed when he got it so right! I still keep it in its purple box in my wardrobe and it is now my fail safe set for special occasions. It really means a lot to me that he spent time choosing something so perfect - even though I'm sure he had plenty of help from the  wonderful girls in store!

Do you have any naughty indulgences?

I love having my body massaged and was recently given a rather delightful treat which involved edible massage oil. I won't go into detail, but it was divine...

    What inspires you?

I take my inspiration from all different places. Be it a song or a piece of art, even films or beautiful garments.

Where is the the most unusual place you have performed?

I recently performed an open air show at a vineyard in Sardinia with a seven piece swing band called The Ballroom Kings. Performing with a live band under the stars was incredible and the 200 strong crowd loved it.

Where can we see you next?

I perform regularly at Proud venues in London - both Camden and City. The venues are fantastic and always have amazing performers on the line up. The Camden venue is perhaps my favourite place to perform as it is very small and intimate, I can really get in amongst the audience and it makes for a more interactive show.

What one calls a vice another calls a virtue... I have too many to mention!

Who would you invite to a wild and hedonistic party at Coco de Mer?

    Allison England Dream Maker

Hot off the press, Men's Health interview with Miss England, Coco de Mer's resident Dream Maker shares her expert advice on how to spank.  She revealed the following:

    1. Broach it: Start with a flirty conversation. "Just being confident enough to bring it up is sexy," Miss England says. "Asking casually, 'What do you think about spanking?' will start a hot conversation." Reassure her that it's only role-play, but that you get turned on by power games.

    2. Tap it: Choose a night when neither of you have been drinking. "Establish three safe words-one for red (stop) amber (go slow) and green (keep going)," Miss England says. Lay her over your knee. "Use flat slaps, then cup your hand to change the sensations." The turn-on isn't (just) the pain - it's the surrender.

3.Target it: "If she can take it, try a paddle," says Miss England. "Leather feels great. Once her cheeks are rosy, spank her sweet spot - the lower middle part of the bum, just before the genitals. You'll hit a nerve that goes right to the groin." In a good way.

    4. Massage it: Use your safe words to bring the session to an end. "Then massage her bum with a cooling cream like After Fun (Coco de Mer, £28). As well as soothing her, it's nice to have contact while she's in a state of pleasure." And you'll both want to do something sexy with that build-up of sexual energy, too.

Follow Miss England's advice with our reccomended tools. Begin with this cheeky Spanking Ruler which gives a pleasant sting and then graduate to the luxurious feeling of leather with these wonderful creations by Paul Seville.  Find everything you'll need to become an expert in the art of spanking in store, online or book a place at our best selling Spanking Skills salon.

To learn more from Miss England book a personal shopping appointment by calling the Monmouth Street store.
